1. Is Xtrados  affiliated with COADE, Inc.?  Is Salad endorsed by COADE, Inc.?

No, we are a fully independent company.  COADE kindly co-operates with Xtrados to assist in resolving or improving data transfer from CAESAR II to Salad.

2. Is the software transportable between machines ?

Yes. See Help file under 'Installation and Licensing'

3. Can I work with earlier versions of CAESAR II ?

Yes, for work not involving pipe wall thickness.  Otherwise you must use CAESAR II Version 5.10 build 080207, or later.

4. Why is the data load time slow ?

Salad loads everything into memory so that scripts can run quickly.  You can reduce the time and file size by only exporting the data categories that you need in the CAESAR II Data Export Wizard.

5. Why does Salad seem to slow my machine down ?

For larger stress models, Salad is memory intensive - we recommend a minimum of 1GB of memory for XP and 1.5 GB for Vista.

6. Do I have to use the CAESAR II Data Export Wizard ?

Yes at present.  If you would prefer a simpler method, please request COADE to provide an 'export to Salad' menu item.  It is understandable that they wouldn't like to waste time implementing this unless sufficient people ask for it.

7. Is there a script for checking such and such ?

Send us an email and we may prepare one. Why not have a go yourself - we are able to assist if necessary.

8. Can you add feature xyz?

Maybe, please use the 'feedback' facility under the Help menu or send us an email

9.  What Quality Assurance is carried out ?

Salad's functions and data variables are tested with a known stress model to verify the accuracy of results.  Salad Scripts produced by Xtrados are prepared and checked by professional engineers.  Major releases are subject to Beta testing by users.  (If you'd like to be involved in Beta testing, please send us an email.)

10. Can I have an extension to my demo version ?

Yes if its not a regular event.  Click on the 'Send codes' button to generate an email with your machine's ID code.  In the email , mention that you would like a demo extension.

11. Can I try the latest version if I already tried an earlier version ?

Yes if its not a regular event.  Install the latest version and then proceed as per FAQ 10.  Or if you have access to another machine, you can try it on that machine instead.

12. How do I get the free version of Salad ?

After expiry of the demo, click on the 'Send codes' button to generate an email with your machine's ID code.  In the email, mention that you would like to get the Lite version.
