Salad 1.20 Beta

New and Improved Version on the Way - Beta Now Available for Download

Salad Beta Screenshot

Pipe stress engineers looking for a faster way to work with data can now experience an easier and faster version of Salad, the Postprocessor for CAESAR II®.  Key features include:

  • User-friendly Input Screen

Although Salad uses an easy to learn scripting language, you will no longer be confronted with it unless you choose to.  Instead use standard text fields and drop-down menus to enter data, with help available for each input.

  • New Energy Institute Guidelines Method for Acoustic Vibration

Salad offers you the pain-free way to carry out AIV checks, especially when dealing with multiple valves such as during an Emergency Blowdown.  You can now keep up with current practices using the EI Guidelines method (formerly known as the MTD Guidelines).  The existing 'D/t' method has also been retained and refined along the lines of NORSOK L-002.

  • Speed Improvements

We've architected some big increases in speed to help you get things done faster.  Tests on a large flare system model found that the Acoustically Induced Vibration script now runs more than 20 times faster !

  • Built-in Scripts

Xtrados scripts are now easily accessible simply by choosing New->Script from the File menu. If you'd like to customise scripts for your own purposes that can be done as well - just unlock the script using password 'Xtrados', and choose 'Edit' from the Script menu.  You can save your script as a User Template or simply as a normal '.sal' Salad file.

Application SymbolDownload the Beta version:  Installer or Zip file

If you don't have Admin access on your machine you can use the Zip file version - after unzipping to a location of your choosing, double click on 'Salad.exe'.

This version will work without limitation for 30 days.  Please go ahead and give it a try - we welcome all feedback or queries.  While we are not aware of any major bugs as yet, do bear in mind that it is Beta software and results should not be considered reliable.

API 610 Script

api pump

We are pleased to announce a new Salad script for checking pump nozzle loads to API 610.

Besides checking all your load cases at once, you have the ability to specify Allowable Load multipliers for cases such as Wind, Earthquake or Standby.

The script has been extensively tested against CAESAR II's pump module and the examples in API 610 Annex F.  You can download a QA package for the script here.

You can get the script from the Downloads section of this site.  Alternatively, select 'Check for Updates' from within Salad.
